photos by Deborah Connors & Dan Spencer -- New "Bakersfield Sound" Book was unveiled at Kern County Museum's Neon Night II Event.
The newest book on the Bakersfield Sound will be available for purchase starting June 18, 2009 at the Kern County Museum. That date coincided with the museum's 2nd Annual Neon Nights event celebrating the neon history of Kern County . Neon signs from the Bakersfield Inn, Far East Cafe, Jim Baker Electrifier and many more light up the night to take folks back in time when the Bakersfield Sound was at its peak.
The book, written by the museum's Jeff Nickell and Sarah Woodman, takes advantage of the wonderful photo collection the museum houses. There are nearly 100 images that illustrate the history of the Bakersfield Sound. -- Live Music was provided by Jerry D. Hobbs and the Rhythm Makers
Dinner was hosted by Los Hermanos.
This book and event were sponsored in part by KUZZ (
